The Millsap Volunteer Fire Department has served this area for almost 60 years. The department has one station located at 407 South Houston Street, in the City of Millsap. We not only supply services to the City of Millsap, but to approximately 75 square miles of Parker County. Our protection area starts at the Parker/ Palo Pinto County line to the west, we go from I-20 almost to Hwy 180 and to Fox Road on the east.

The original fire station at the current location was built in 1978 and a 2 bay 30’ X 38’ station. We have added on to the station 4 times and are currently completing the last addition. The station has 5 bays, training room, locker room and bathroom. We have 6 apparatus, our oldest truck is a 1999 Ford Rescue truck that we purchased new. We have two tankers, a 2100 Gallon Tanker and a 3,000 Gallon Tanker Pumper. We have two brush trucks, both 4X4 Ford Diesels. We also have a 2007 Pierce Contender Engine. The Engine was the first truck in Parker County with Compresses Air Foam System.

We have a complete set of Hurst “Jaws of Life” rescue equipment, including a power plant, spreader, cutter and ram. We also have a second combination cutter/spreader tool. We also have a complete set of “Air Bag” rescue equipment. We have the rescue equipment to handle even the most complicated extrication events.

We have a very active training program, with weekly training classes. We have 3 of our members that are Certified Fire Fighters with The Texas Commission on Fire Protection (paid certification). We have several firefighters certified with the State Firemen and Fire Marshal’s Association of Texas (volunteer certification). We also have had several members spend a week at the Annual Fire School at Texas A&M each summer, this is the largest fire training school in the world.

The Millsap VFD has received over $500,000.00 in Grant Funds over the past 5 years. We feel that in order to supply a high level of service we must have the equipment and training to do this. The department has received grants from the Texas Forest Service and the Department of Homeland Security. The grants have been used to improve all areas of the department, but we still rely on our community for support.
